Quick caramelizing onions is a favorite with many, including me, because it takes just 10 minutes to get a delicious caramelized version of a popular soup.
The secret to this technique is using only three ingredients: carrots, onions and water.
This is a quick and easy way to get great caramelized potatoes, sausages, soups, and even desserts.
Caramelizing onions can also be used as a condiment to serve hot foods such as sauerkraut, ketchup, kimchi and even a simple salad dressing.
Here are the ingredients for a quick, easy caramelized caramelized potato recipe:IngredientsFor the caramelized carrots:1 pound of carrots, cut into quarters or quarters and chopped 1-inch thick.
Add the carrots to a large pot of water, and bring to a boil over medium heat.
When the carrots are tender, drain off all excess water.
Next, add the onion, one tablespoon of sugar, and two tablespoons of flour.
Whisk well to combine.
Add more water, the carrot mixture and the flour mixture and bring it to a simmer over medium-high heat until it starts to boil.
Add the carrots and continue to cook for about 10 minutes, until the carrots have cooked through.
Remove from heat and transfer the carrots back to the pot and boil until the potatoes are tender.
Remove the carrots from the pot, and set aside.
Add in the potatoes and cook for another 10 minutes until the potato is soft and browned on all sides.
Remove and set the potatoes aside.
The onions:In a large bowl, whisk together the butter, salt and pepper.
Add all of the flour to the butter and stir until it’s smooth.
Add 2 tablespoons of the water and mix well.
Whirl in the carrot mix and the onions.
Add 1 tablespoon of water and stir well.
Remove from heat, and whisk in the remaining flour mixture until it forms a soft dough.
Using a rubber spatula, fold in the mixture, making sure it’s all combined.
Add 1 tablespoon more water and fold well.
Add about 1 tablespoon butter mixture to the dough, and knead for 10 to 15 minutes.
Roll the dough into 1-ounce balls and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Brush each ball with the caramelizing butter mixture and serve immediately.
