When you’ve got your hands full with your daily life, or you just want to add a little something extra to your burger, it might be worth a try to grill your onions for a pair of socks.
If you’re not a fan of the traditional style, this is a great option if you’re looking for something different.
If, however, you’re just looking for some onion-laced snacks, these grilled onions will do the trick.
The burger is made with three types of onions, plus an onion-scented sauce, but they’re served with a side of lettuce, tomato and mustard.
The onions are grilled over high heat, which makes for a really delicious accompaniment.
Here’s how to make a grilled onions burger.
Ingredients 1 onion, diced 1 medium carrot, diced 2 garlic cloves, minced 2 tomatoes, diced (or more to taste) 2 tomatoes in a bunch 1/2 red onion, chopped 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce 1/3 cup mayonnaise 1 tbsp chopped parsley 1 tsp salt Instructions Cut the onion into chunks.
Heat a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat.
Add the onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until soft.
Add garlic, tomatoes, red onion and Worcester’s salt and cook until the onion starts to soften.
Add tomato and cook for another minute.
Add onion and garlic, tomato sauce, mayonnaize and parsley, and cook another minute or two.
Add more tomato sauce as needed, to taste.
Remove from heat and set aside.
Slice the onion in half.
Place one half of the onion on a plate and set the other half on top of the onions.
Place the remaining onion in the skillet, along with the carrot and garlic.
Cook over medium heat until the onions are very soft and the carrots start to soften and brown.
Add a few pieces of lettuce to the bottom of the skillet and mix well.
Remove and set on a cutting board.
Bake at 350º for 15-20 minutes. Enjoy!
